Camp Canada

I just returned from speaking at a wonderful conference held at Camp Evergreen in Alberta, Canada. My favorite moment was Saturday night after dinner. I was at the table with this bunch of God-Lovers hearing how all of them had grown up reading Christy Miller books. (Yes, even Nathan!) One of the women asked if I’d ever considered getting the stories into DVDs. I gave her a short version of the long history of the ups and downs we’ve had with this endeavor. I concluded with my usual answer that many pieces need to come together at the same time and we need to pray. One of the bunch (Nathan, again) said, “I think we should pray now.” He led us in the most tender yet warrior-like prayer. It was so powerful. And I can tell you I wasn’t the only one crying when we echoed a chorus of amens.

On my flight home I kept thinking of this verse in The Message. It’s Ephesians 3:20

“God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us.”

The time spent in Alberta renewed my courage. I know that God’s Spirit is at work in us. He is accomplishing His purposes, His dreams for us. However that plays out is of course, up to Him. I just love being along for the wild ride! Especially when I get to meet so many amazing Forever Friends before we get to heaven.
