An Engagement Story

engagement.jpgThis summer my husband and I will celebrate our wedding anniversary – 33 years! I came across this engagement photo of us and knew I had to share it with you. I mean, seriously. Don’t we look like a vintage version of Todd and Christy?

A little story from our engagement has come full circle in a beautiful way. My husband and I met and married in Southern California. The first place we shopped for engagement rings was at Maranatha Village in Costa Mesa where a surfer/artist named Bob Siemon was just starting to sell his jewelry designs. We found a perfect groom’s wedding band designed by Bob that we loved. Only one problem. The wedding band cost $500. To put that in perspective, the budget for our entire wedding was $500!

We walked away without the ring. For five years I put away a little money every month from my waitressing tips. A month before our 5-year anniversary I went back with my saved up $500 cash and brightly explained my plan to surprise my husband. Only one problem. The ring now cost almost $900! The sales associate watched me tear up as I slid the tip money back into my purse.

A man came over and said, “I heard your story, and I want you to have this ring for your husband. Let’s see what we can work out.” That man was Bob Siemon, the owner and designer.  And that day I went home with my husband’s wedding band tucked in my purse.

Now hop forward 28 years to last summer when I saw Bob again at a trade show in Denver. I waited at his booth until he was free, and then I introduced myself and told him how I’d been too stunned to properly tell him thank you on that day of his extravagant grace. Once again he watched me tear up in between my heart-felt words of appreciation. He asked if my husband and I were still married, and I said yes. We smiled the best sort of smile at each other.

Bob asked what I was doing at the International Christian Retailers Show, and I told him about the stories I write. I told him about you, my encouraging readers. I also told him I was opening an Online Shop with the dream to one day be able to offer Forever ID robinross in hawaii.jpgbracelets that would be classic, lovely and affordable. For the second time in my life, this kind man said, “Let’s see what we can work out.”

Perhaps you can see why I am so thrilled to offer to you these new Forever ID bracelets made exclusively for the Robin Jones Gunn Online Shop by Bob Siemon Designs!  The details are below, and all I can say is that this full circle is definitely a God-thing. And being married to my "Todd" for more than three decades is definitely a God-thing, too!

Forever ID Bracelets

bracelets_white_250.jpgOur new, exclusive, Forever ID bracelets are here and will be available in the shop on June 11! Todd gave Christy her Forever ID bracelet and told her that no matter what happened, their friendship would last forever. Christy often looked at her bracelet and reminded herself that no matter what happened in her life, her relationship with the Lord would last forever.

Now you can have that same daily reminder when you wear your Forever ID bracelet. Available in both gold and pewter, these bracelets are sold exclusively in our Online Shop. You can pop over there now to view more details.
