Autumn Adventures

The Sisterchicks® Getaway last month was over the top amazing! Have you seen the photos yet? Each picture shares the story of how our time together was filled to overflowing with deep joy and so much aloha. I wish every one of you could have been there. It was truly a taste of heaven.

One of my favorite moments at the Sisterchicks Getaway (and there were many) was hearing the story of this 15 year-old from Australia. She and her best friend came with their moms. Or I should say “mums.” Several years ago she had gone through a very difficult time. It’s her story to tell so I won’t give specifics. For my side of the story I can say that her words to all the women on our final night together went deep, very deep into my heart. She shared that during the intensely painful time in her young life she read a Christy Miller book and that story drew her closer to the Lord. She kept reading all the books and her relationship with Christ grew deeper and stronger. She has shared the books with many, many friends and has come through the difficult season of her life simply radiant.

For those of you who are in need of a Sisterchicks Getaway in book form, here’s some happiness I’ve been eager to announce. All eight of the Sisterchicks novels now have new covers and are available starting today!  We also have new Island Style luggage tags inspired by the 2012 Sisterchicks Getaway. In celebration of Autumn, we are offering $5 off your purchase of $30 in my Online Shop, use the code AUTUMN12 at checkout, offer expires 10/5/12. You can experience your own virtual Sisterchicks adventure without leaving the comfort of your snuggle chair.

For all you Sisterchicks on the East Coast I’m coming your way on October 25th. I’ll be speaking at the gorgeous Sandy Cove Conference Center in Maryland. Please come! The event is open to women of all ages. I would love to see you there.

From October 28 – November 2nd I will be teaching at the LittWorld Conference in Nairobi. Yes, Africa! After the conference my favorite Kenyan, Wambura, is organizing a safari to the Masai Mara. Now, what kind of stories do you think might tumble out of that experience? I hope to be sharing some of bits of these autumn adventures on the blog, so stay tuned!

By the way, I loved all your feedback and suggestions regarding the upholstery choices for my snuggle chair. I was leaning toward neutral again. But then I was at my literary agent’s office last month and she has a reading chair in the corner that looked so inviting. The upholstery on her chair was a rich cocoa brown with pale green palm fronds. That prompted me to go back to holding up swatches and tilting my head this way and that. This project may take a while.
