A Peter Pan Baby Shower

My baby is having a baby.

How is it possible that my daughter is as old as I was when she was born?

She and her husband live nearby and are expecting their first baby in August.

It’s a boy. Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy!

Last week we showered her with prayers and gifts and much love at a vintage themed Peter Pan shower.

My clever daughter planned the theme. My son hunted for Peter Pan books and memorabilia.

My friend let us borrow a house that lent itself perfectly to the enchanting Neverland theme. So dreamy.

My husband showed up with a crocodile for our lagoon!

Two of my daughter’s friends went all out helping us decorate, organize and make the evening a time of sweet celebration.

Dozens of ladies came at sunset and the festivities began.

My favorite part was sharing a personal story. It was the story of my only daughter and how I knew from early on that one day she would be a very good mother.

We laughed, we cried. We hugged and smiled and celebrated God’s gift of new life.

We dined on Crocamole and many other delights.

Wonderful quotes from the Peter Pan stories were sprinkled throughout the evening.  Quotes such as:

Second star to the right, and straight on til morning.

For to have faith is to have wings.

Would you like an adventure now or would you like to have your tea first?

When the first baby laughed for the first time, its laugh broke into a thousand pieces, and they all went skipping about, and that was the beginning of fairies.

You know that place between sleep and awake, the place where you can still remember dreaming? That’s where I’ll always love you. That’s where I’ll be waiting.

Best of all was that we wrote out our prayers and blessings and then joined in prayer for this little baby-to-be.

He is already loved well by all his aunties. We can’t wait to see his handsome face.

Let the adventure begin!
